The weather looked a little “Touch and Go” but it did not take long for it to clear out and the sun saved the day. A nice compliment of vehicles met in the Campbelltown Fire Company parking lot to parade down Rt. 322 to the Traditions of Hershey facility. There we had a large crowd of residents waiting, first to parade in front of them, then to look over the parked cars afterwards.
Traditions had run two advertisements in the Harrisburg newspaper, giving SVVSCC credit for bringing the cars. Once at Traditions, we had at least four other cars join us from out side the Club. In this case, the more the merrier!
They provided ice cream for us from a food truck, so we did not go hungry. Fox News was there and ran an interview with Bill Jackson and Bill Bickle on TV later in the day. So once again SVVSCC got some free advertisement and a chance to show off our cars.
This was our third year of this event and was a success again. Thanks much to Bill Jackson for setting it up.
A great event that was well attended, held on the lawn of the Museum. SVVSCC was represented along with many non-Club sports and sport touring cars.
Actually, the event was three meets rolled into one. First, the Cruse-In for all makes and models from Brass era to Hot Rods. Second, a Studebaker meet, and third, the celebration of Tucker’s 75 Anniversary.
Thanks to all who helped with this event.
The weather was perfect for a late spring day, or as I call it, a top-down day. After the group of intrepid travelers met at the AACA Museum parking lot, we headed off for about an hour drive out Rts. 81/78.
Once there, we met Bernie Thompson for a private tour of the two buildings that store the collection of mostly Hudson’s and auto memorabilia. Bernie is the curator, docent, and part owner of the collection of about 70 Hudson’s and Hudson spin-offs. The two buildings were old car dealerships with about 80 more show ready cars in storage. The current two buildings are not big enough to house all the cars, so they are planning on a third.
As he should be, Bernie was an encyclopedia of Hudson knowledge, and willing to take the time needed to answer our questions. If you’ve not visited there, I recommend a trip. After the tour, we headed to the Fogelsville Hotel for a meal, then pointed the car’s noses West towards home.
